Every woman dreads having to deal with menstrual cramps. It’s not just the cramps either. It’s the bloating too. Combine those things and you have a miserable few days every month. What are Menstrual Cramps?
Menstrual cramps (also known as period cramps) are mini contractions. They serve the same purpose that contractions do and they are triggered by the same hormones. Your body is going to have those hormones and you will have to deal with cramps, but you can make them much easier and get rid of the pain. There are many things that you can very easily do at home.

It might seem counter intuitive to exercise when you feel crampy and bloated and don’t even want to move. Yoga is a great exercise as well as swimming in a warm pool. Stretching will also help to eliminate soreness and is great if you are in a lot of pain.
2. Therapeutic Heat
Applying heat will relax those tense and tight muscles. You can use a hot water bottle or heating pad. You can also use a kitchen towel that you have wet and then thoroughly wrung out. Heat it up in the microwave for one minute and then put it around your lower waist.
3. Warm bath
You can soak in a warm tub to help your menstrual cramps immediately. You can add some Epsom salts or other relaxing bath salts to help ease your muscles. Aromatherapy is also wonderful to help your senses. If you don’t have a bathtub or don’t want to soak try a nice warm shower.
4. Stay hydrated
Keep a bottle of water next to you. You want to make sure that you keep enough water in your system. Part of dehydration is cramped muscles, so it can make period cramps worse. 5. Magnesium and Calcium
Calcium has been shown to help reduce the pain for cramps. If you take magnesium prior to and during your period your body will absorb the calcium much better. Magnesium is a required element for muscle relaxation, and without it our muscles would be in a constant state of contraction. You can find many supplements with both calcium and magnesium so its easy to remember to take them together.
You can drink ginger tea which can help. You can get ginger tea from the store or you can get some fresh ginger. If you get fresh then you can cut off a piece, pound it flat and then boil it for a few minutes. If you want to sweeten it you can use honey or sugar. Make sure that if you get a pre-made tea that it contains actual ginger, not just ginger flavoring. You can also eat candied ginger, which you can find in any grocery store.
Most women get cramps at one point or another, but you don’t have to suffer from them. With these easy at home remedies you can significantly reduce the pain that you get from cramps.
